Estepona, November 15, 2017This morning it has been presented at the Estepona Town Hall. Wennare Dance Companythe first resident contemporary dance company of the Felipe VI Auditorium, which will have its debut performance on December 7 with the presentation of EGOa dynamic show, full of contrasts, joy, sadness and love. The press conference was attended by José María García Urbano, mayor of Estepona, Veronika Ulkina, director of Wennare Dance Company and José María Asensi, director of the Felipe VI Auditorium.
García Urbano wanted to highlight the importance of this type of cultural initiatives for the life of the city and showed his unconditional support as well as "the recognition of the city" to the work that the Felipe VI Auditorium is doing.
Both Veronika Ulkina and José María Asensi acknowledged the work that the local government is doing in favor of culture and gave as an example the strong support received by the City Council for the creation, presentation and promotion of Wennare Dance Company and EGO, its first show.
Asensi told how from the Felipe VI Auditorium they strive for the theater to become the cultural epicenter of the municipality going beyond a good annual program and getting involved in training projects and artistic creation. Thus, he explained what it means to be a resident company as is Wennare Dance Company: "What we want to do, as in the case of twinning with Veronika, is to turn the Auditorium into a place of promotion and production of culture". "For that, we want to have resident companies and we have started with Wennare Dance Copany not only because we are passionate about dance but also because Veronika came with an unrepayable project, which brings everything necessary and has an ambitious touring plan," he said.
For her part, Ulkina, director of Wennare Dance Company stressed that thanks to this collaboration with the Auditorium, "the company is a very powerful project that unites the school, where dancers can train and grow, the production of shows that can offer work to the dancers, as well as a space in which to present the projects before touring to other places and take the name of Estepona in Andalusia and Spain".
Wennare Dance Company will present its first show on December 7 with the premiere of EGO in a single performance at the Felipe VI Auditorium in Estepona and after its launch in the city, the company plans a tour of different cities starting in Andalusia to continue touring the rest of Spain.
"We wanted to talk about the life of a single person and at the same time about the life of all of us," Ulkina explained. "Life is a train ride with its stations and track changes but we never know at which station we will get off or who we will meet there. That is the great mystery," she related. "Everything that happens is measured according to our EGO. On the one hand we have what we can call the light part, which lives, loves, forgives and offers the best of ourselves, but on the other hand, we have the dark part. Only you can choose which part of yourself you want to be with. A decision that is sometimes difficult," he concluded.
The show is directed by the young and experienced choreographer Yuri Gudushauri, whose versatility and expressive capacity were highlighted. In addition, Veronika pointed out that "the team that makes up Wennare Dance Company is international, which means that each person can bring something completely different to the EGO show".
Tickets for EGO are on sale at www.auditorioestepona.com and can also be purchased every Saturday at Carrefour Estepona.
